MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Music will host a performance of the Heartland Marimba Quartet on Monday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for the Performing Arts.
The four performers of the Heartland Marimba Quartet come from four states: Iowa, Illinois, Texas and Arizona. The Heartland Marimba Quartet is a subsidiary of the Heartland Marimba Festival organization, based at the Heartland Marimba Quartet Academy at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
All of the members are accomplished and award-winning solo players in the percussion field. Matthew Coley, Heartland Marimba Quartet director, has formed this group in order to provide a strong presence and public image year-round for the Heartland Marimba Festival, and to continue to forge a path of gainful opportunities for professional marimba players. The ensemble’s appearance in Mankato is part of an Upper Midwest tour throughout Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
