Come to New Ulm and shop with your Gnomies! The GnomeMade Market returns for its 34th year, November 1st through 4th, 2018. Featuring the art and craft of local makers, the event will be held at 15 private studios, homes and in historic locations throughout New Ulm, voted by USA Today as one of the top ten best cities to live in America.

One of the most successful and well-attended shows in southern Minnesota, the popularity of the market can be attributed to many factors — the quality and originality of the works and the unique personalities of the makers. The market also thrives on the phenomenon known as the ‘handmade movement’.

Buying handmade not only raises the profile of our regional makers, but it is also impactful for multiple generations. “When you think about it, a lot of handmade items are eco-conscious, they are made with less waste or are upcycled,” stated Executive Director Mary Jane Glawe. “That is something really important for our future, but at the same time, making something by hand harkens us back to a past when knowledge of skilled craft was passed on. It’s really important to know who in your area can make and do things.”

In addition to the 150+ artisan and vendor event, an American pop music concert “Divas thru the Decades”, will take place Friday evening, November 2, at the State Street Theater Company, 1 North State Street. Featuring music from the 40’s through current hits, the tickets for the concert include dessert and are $15 in advance at https://divas-sstc.eventbrite.com or $20 at the box office. Doors open at 6 pm with the performance at 7:30 pm. A chocolate martini will be featured at the cash bar.

GnomeMade Market isn’t just an arts and crafts crawl, it’s a high octane sport! On Saturday, stop by the First United Methodist Church Fall Bazaar, 1 North Broadway to refuel. Morning coffee and homemade breads will be served from 8:30 am to 10 am. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 1 pm and includes assorted salads, homemade desserts, dinner roll & beverage for $10.

Wind down later that evening to the jazz sounds of 2018 Minnesota Music Hall of Fame inductee Arne Fogel at The Grand Center for Arts and Culture, 210 North Minnesota. Performance tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/2EHrMim. Libations, wood-fired pizza, and limited seating is available.

The GnomeMade Market is free to attend and open to the public. Dates and times may vary with each venue. Market maps at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce or online at gnomemademarket.com.
