As the 2020 election draws near, Congress and the Administration face a final opportunity to respond to the economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tax changes involving a combination of immediate cash flow and longer-term investment relief have been enacted and more could be under consideration. Mel has over 37 years’ experience specializing in legislative affairs, including development and implementation of tax legislation at the national level. Mel spends a bulk of his time at the capitol meeting with legislators, listening in on updates impacting tax processes and procedures and providing timely internal and external updates and education on issues impacting clients. Mel spent six years on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation and has served as the Chairman of the AICPA’s Tax Legislation Committee.
