Music on the Hill presents "No stars, not even clouds"
This Event Occurred in the Past.
The Music on the Hill series (MOTH) will conclude its tenth season with a program entitled "No stars, not even clouds". The title takes its name from the middle piece on the program, a string quartet by Gillian Whitehead, written after Whitehead learned the heartbreaking news of a dear friend’s cancer diagnosis. The program begins with the Haydn String Quartet in C Major, Op. 20 No. 2, described by musicologist William Drake as “one of the supreme achievements of the Classical period” with every movement offering something to admire. The concert concludes with the nostalgically beautiful Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 27, by Edvard Grieg. MOTH welcomes
violinists Maureen Nelson and Kathryn Bennett, violist Hyobi Sim, and MOTH artistic director, cellist Richard Belcher.
