We rake yards for older adults in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties. Most of the homes we rake are in Mankato and North Mankato
RAKE THE TOWN
This Event Occurred in the Past.
This November 9 when we hold our annual Rake the Town event, we’re hoping the leaves aren’t covered with fresh snow like they were last year! At VINE, we can assist older adults and people with documented physical disabilities who need help with tasks — such as raking leaves — that help them maintain independent living.
In 2018, volunteers from 62 groups, totaling 700 rakers, assisted 160 homeowners during Rake the Town. We are busy preparing for Rake the Town 2019, our annual fall service event, that takes place Saturday, November 9. Rakers will be available to help in Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter, and in all other communities in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties.
As in the past, we will host a lunch for the rakers in the auditorium of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 423 West 7th St. There is no formal charge for this service, though donations are more than welcome to help defray the costs of the day (postage, publicity, food, treats, rakes, bags, etc.). Contributions also will be used to help VINE continue to provide chore services.
Call the VINE office at (507) 387-1666 to sign up to get your raking done or to volunteer to help. Rakers also can visit VINE’s website to download a registration form. If you have not been a recipient of VINE services before, a staff member will arrange a convenient time to stop by your home to say hello and get you registered.
