The Alan Munde Trio features Alan Munde on banjo, Adam Granger on guitar, and Dick Kimmel on mandolin.

Alan Munde is one of the most highly respected and best-loved banjo players in the world. Long admired for his creative mastery of adapting fiddle tunes to the banjo, Munde’s vast repertoire ranges from standard bluegrass and Texas swing to gospel, jazz and original compositions. Munde also recorded and contributed to the 2001 International Bluegrass Music Association Instrumental Album of the Year, “Knee Deep in Bluegrass.” In 2008 he and his longtime partner, Joe Carr, were presented with the IBMA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Adam Granger was once a charter member of the Powdermilk Biscuit Band, the first house band for Garrison Keillor’s, “A Prairie Home Companion.” During that time, he also wrote for the show and, on several occasions, substitute-hosted for Keillor. Upon leaving the “Companion, “ Adam played for eight years in The Eclectic Brothers, an acoustic swing trio. Following that, for eight seasons he co-hosted with Pop Wagner the award-winning television show, “The Cedar Social,” which featured local folk, bluegrass, ethnic and jazz performers.

Local favorite, Dick Kimmel, has been entertaining audiences for more than a half-century throughout North America and Europe. The music of Dick Kimmel is firmly rooted within traditional bluegrass, old-time string band, and folk music—genres where he excels as a performer as well as an historian, mentor, and teacher.
