ProMusica Minnesota returns for its second chamber music concert of the season with Trumpet Flourish. Featuring Manny Laureano, long-time Principal Trumpet for the Minnesota Orchestra, the program is an eclectic and invigorating array of trumpet and piano literature from Gershwin to Hindemith. The concert also welcomes pianist and composer Dr. Sarah Miller, who will perform her composition The Tiger Dreams alongside Laureano. ProMusica Minnesota Artistic Director and pianist Bethel Balge will join Laureano to perform works by Honegger, Bozza, Gershwin, and Hindemith, in addition to solo piano preludes by Rachmaninoff.

Manny Laureano has been playing with the Minnesota Orchestra since 1981. He has been in great demand as a soloist, clinician and conductor with bands and orchestras throughout the Midwest. He has also led several series of Minnesota Orchestra Young People’s Concerts. Manny and his wife, Claudette, served as co-artistic directors of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies for 32 years. Trumpet Flourish will be his debut with ProMusica Minnesota.

“Manny and I performed together in a different concert series about 12 years ago–a fantastic experience. He has amazing trumpet chops, a great musical sense, and an engaging personality. I am thrilled to collaborate with him again.” says Artistic Director Bethel Balge.

The 70-minute concert will be performed without an intermission. Tickets are $20 for individuals and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased from promusicamn.com or in person on the day of the event.

In addition to the concert on February 6th, Laureano will present a Master Class to the Martin Luther College Wind Symphony on Saturday, February 5th, at 10am in the Chapel of the Christ at Martin Luther College. The Master Class, an opportunity for students to receive a coaching session from a world-renowned musician, is free and open to the public.

This concert is made possible through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, and the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
